Nice touch

Pownce_registration

Within the Pownce registration, they ask you what sort of person you are. I, of course, am a gentleman. Nice way to get accurate data from a form.

The game: Spore

A presentation from Will Wright, creator of the amazing looking game "Spore" where you create a single celled creature, and take it up to controlling a galaxy-wide species of extraterrestrials. The cool thing is that it is created with an educational intent to show people what the "long term dynamics" of the whole of creation to "reframe our instincts over vast scales of space and time" - from ecology, to global warming, to the insignificance of a planet over galaxy scale distances.

From the amazing TED conference videos

Maybe toys can change the world Will, maybe they can.

Human Brain Cloud

Human_brain_cloud

Human Brain Cloud is bit like 'visual thesaurus' but free, and completely user generated - and arguably a bit more interestingly designed. The cloud started with a single word; 'volcano', and everything else has come from people visiting the site. Charmingly I was human126023.

It works very simply, like this:

Making widgets - the old fashioned way

Mazedesktopfactory

The idea is to create a 3-D prototyping tool for less than $1000. Currently it is scheduled to launch at $4995. The company is Desktop Factory, they are funded by old-skool incubator Idealab. There is a video on money.cnn.com as part of the 'new disruptors' series

More pictures and transcript of the film below.

Kudos to Flo for the find via MIT Advertising Lab via Erick Schonfeld
